The Face of M.E.

2020 was one of the worst years of my life. The worst thing that happened was I lost my mother on June 5, 2020. I thought was I going to be well into my late sixties or seventies before she was gone, but God had other plans. The funny thing is my dad had passed forty days before her. My dad and I wasn’t ever close. Yet, his death still hurt and made me realize that I couldn’t even fathom the thought of my mother not existing here on earth with me. I said to her, “Mom, I don’t know what I’ll do if I ever lost you!”. She told me, “You gotta live Christa, that’s what you gonna do!”

So I decided, I AM GOING TO LIVE!!!

From this point forward, I am pursuing all of my goals and aspirations. I am no going to let fear stop me, shame stop me, risk of failure stop me, or anything stop me because otherwise I wouldn’t be living. I am going to be a crusader for the very thing that almost destroyed me. I will speak out and up for the voiceless and myself.

I am going to express myself and be MENTALLY EXPRESSIVE aka M.E.

THE FACE OF MENTALLY EXPRESSIVE

BIO

My name is Christa. I am from, in my opinion, one of the best states in the USA, OH-IO. I am a wife and a mother of three handsome boys. I birthed two naturally and God blessed me with a bonus one through marriage. I am the daughter of a teacher and a preacher. I have four brothers and six sisters on my dad’s side. I have one sister on my mom’s side. We grew up in the same household together. I don’t think she know so don’t tell her, shhh… but she is my first real best friend. She was my playmate and now she’s my shopping mate, traveling mate, my everything mate. She holds a special place in my heart and I dare anyone to come for her. I swear it won’t be pretty.

I am a proud graduate of Wright State University and Sinclair Community College. I have a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences focusing on Criminal Justice and Social Problems from Wright State. I have an associate’s degree in Communications from Sinclair Community College. I am a member of the greatest sorority on earth, the sweet Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. I am a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. I work from home and do reporting and analytic for a financial company.

I have a great circle of friends and I love them all, but there are some honorable mentions that I have to recognize. These people showed up and out when my mom passed and before. They proved beyond a reasonable doubt that they love me almost as much as they love themselves. Kudos to my soulmate/BFF Ca’Cherrie, my forever friend/brother Antione, my male BFF DJ, and my sorority sister/BFF Ashley. You guys are indisposable and I can’t imagine living life without you guys. Talking about people who I can’t imagine life without, I have to also highlight my Aunt Bell and Aunt Sam. They make living without my mother a little more bearable.

Some random facts about me: I don’t eat pork. I haven’t since I was fourteen. I haven’t eaten a single piece of bread, from sliced bread to biscuits, since 2017 and plan to never eat it again. I’ll rather listen to music all day than watch TV. My favorite color is pink. I love to cook. I want to have food truck one day or at least be able to display my cooking skill on a grand scale to the masses. I enjoy singing. No, I am not a singer but I can carry a tune.
